Ruiz & Partners Abogados, S.C. is a Venezuelan aviation law firm based in Caracas. We specialize in insurance, litigation and aviation law. Our legal services include other ancillary practices such as tourism and hospitality, immigration, commercial and corporate law. Our clients include, inter alia, international passenger and cargo airlines, insurers and reinsurers, aircraft lessors, GA aircraft owners and operators, FBOs, MROs, travel agencies and tour operators.

Our experience

  • We litigated on behalf of UK reinsurers in a subrogated action before the Venezuelan courts, seeking recovery for damages sustained by the landing gear of a Cessna 525A due to structural irregularities of the taxiway.
  • Advised reinsurers on liability aspects resulting from structural damages caused as a result of the impact of a baggage trolley against one of the aircraft operated by the insured airline.
  • Represented a prestigious Turkish airline in all the legal aspects of the setting up of their regular air carriage operations to Caracas.
  • Acted for a local air carrier in the negotiation of a dry lease of an A737-300 to be employed in non-regular operations within the region.
  • Acted for reinsurers in the defence of passenger and third-party legal liability claims arising out of an ATR42-300 crash occurred in Ciudad Guayana, Venezuela, in September 2010.
  • Represented UK reinsurers successfully in an international arbitration proceedings issued by an insured under an aircraft hull coverage dispute.
  • Represented reinsurers in the defence of legal liability claims following a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan crash in Canaima, Venezuela in April 2009.
  • Acted for reinsurers in relation to passenger legal liability and salvage claims following the ditching of a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan into the ocean off La Tortuga Island, Venezuela in August 2009.
  • Advised insurers on liability aspects following the crash of a B737-200 operated by a local carrier during a ferry flight to Latacunga, Ecuador in August 2008.
